Author Ellen Jackson attributed the following quote to you: "The worst thing you do write is better than the best thing you don't write." Does it actually originate with you?

Hello April, I am David Alan Binder; your books have captured my attention.

I love interviewing authors (via email only) of published book(s); drop me a line and letís talk at ab3ring@juno.com or dalanbinder@gmail.com. It is only about 20 questions or so long.

Here is a sample of an interview with David A. Adler author of 250 books I recently posted to my website:

P.S. By filling out the interview questions, you agree to the posting of the interview on my website.

My oldest daughter bought and read your book when she was in middle school. She left it in my library when she lived here on my farm. I read it recently because Buddy is the same age as my daughter now (2014) and getting ready for high school. She has always been an avid reader and a prolific writer. I'm going to turn her on to your work and story. Loved the book.

Why did you write Praying At The Sweet Water Motel? please respond

I'm happy you enjoyed Waiting To Disappear. My other book is Praying at the Sweetwater Motel. Although my books are fiction, my writing is influenced by my own experiences and those of the people I meet. I'm always pleased when my writing connects with my readers. Thanks for your note.

I really love the book. Is it based on a real story? It goes really deep into a real persons life. It explains the feelings of Buddy and the point of veiw she sees in other people.I read this book and it is my book for the book project this month of April 2009. Please recommend me any other books you have written. Thank you! GOD BLESS!!!

I don't know. Maybe you can find out by looking for information about her online by typing in her name followed by the word author and the word bio. Good luck

Thank you Grace for the kind words about Waiting To Disappear. I spoke at last year's English Festival and it was fun to meet the students and teachers who were involved in the program. It is rewarding to know that you connected with my work.

April, My class is participating in an English Festival. We are assigned to read six books. "Waiting to Dissappear" was by far my favorite of all the books, I read it in one day! I like reading books where I can relate to the characters. She is the same age as most of my class. It was a touching story, that makes you think a lot. You're a great writer and I intend on reading more of your stories. Sincerely, Grace Handler

I was born in Tarrytown, New York, a village north of New York City. My grandmother lived in a house that overlooked the Hudson River.

When were you born?

Dear April, I just finished your book and I loved it! My library doesn't have Waiting to Disappear, but it looks good, so I'll have to look around for it. I think you are a talented writer. I'm going to make my family read it. : )

Thanks for writing Cortney. I had so much fun at the English Festival. I'm sorry you didn't have a chance to get your book signed. I am currently working on other books and have no plans for a sequel to Praying at the Sweetwater Motel at this time. Maybe one day in the future I'll revisit Sarah Jane and Fred.

Hi April, I just read "Praying at the Sweetwater Motel" and i think it was an awesome book! I was required to read it for the English Festival At Duquesne University in Pgh, PA. You were a speaker there (i sat in the first row in the far right rows), and i didn't get a chance to have you sign a copy of my book, but that's ok...and i was just wondering if you had any follow ups to that book or if you plan to write a continuation of the book...i think it would be a hit! Thanks, Cortney

i like books!

Waiting To Disappear is not currently available on tapes or CDs.

Hi Sarah, I have many favorite books which include some from my childhood such as To Kill A Mockingbird and The Boxcar Children. I also like the novels of Sharon Creech, Sarah Dessen, Libba Bray, Joan Bauer, Martha Brooks, and many more authors. I have a house filled with books old and new.

Hi Abby, Thanks for writing. First, I think of a character, then I decide what the character really wants more than anything. As the character tries to reach her goal, there are conflicts and that's what makes the story interesting.

I worked on "Praying at the Sweetwater Motel" off and on for two years. I say off and on, because I did some of the writing between edits of "Waiting To Disappear."

How long did it take you to write?

Yes, "Praying at the Sweetwater Motel" is now available in bookstores, bookstores online and from Hyperion Books for Children.

Is your new book out yet?????

Hi Mrs. Fritz! I can't believe that you have another book coming out. Have you been working on it for long? When will it be coming out?

Hello April. I just want to thank you for all your help and all the help you will give me. You're great! I have a question. How did you come up with the story Praying in Sweetwater Motel? Lindsay G.

Hello April. I just want to thank you for all your help and all the help you will give me. You're great! I have a question. How did you come up with the story Praying in Sweetwater Motel?

Hi April. I'll send you my email as soon as I can. Promise.

Hi Lindsay. I got your email. Thanks for writing. I sent a reply but it came back as undeliverable. Please send me your email address and I'll try to write again. I can't tell you what your chances are of selling books and having them made into a movie. Write from your heart. Write the book you would like to read.

Hey April! What are the chances of a teenager becoming famous with a book or two and it becoming a movie and them getting alot of money? By the way, I loved your book!-Lindsay G.

I did grow up during the 60's, so it was fun to write about things like Tonette home perms and the music from that era. I had a great time at your school. The rooms decorated as scenes from the book brought happy tears to my eyes. Thank you for the wonderful day.

Mrs.Fritz, I really apprecate your visit to our school, I was wondering, does the book have anything to do with your childhood? or experinces? Thanks Again,

Mrs.Fritz, Thank You for coming to Drauden Point Middle school! We really apprecate it! ~Jessica

Why did you choose to right a book called waiting to disappear?

My favorite book from when I was very young was "The Boxcar Children," but my all time favorite book is, "To Kill A Mockingbird." I even named one of my horses Scout. I tend to prefer books written in the first person voice, and lately I've been enjoying books by Sarah Dessen. I will be posting a section on "April's Book Choices" as soon as I have some free time. I'm currently busy doing the revisions of my second novel.

What is your favorite book?

Thank you Jessica, for taking the time to write. Was there any one character in particular that you enjoyed? I write with the hope that I will connect with the reader, so you have made my day.

April, Your book moved me more than you will ever know. Thank you for the inspiration! Jessica

Happy New Year Justine. Thanks for writing. I hope I get to see you again before the end of school.

Hi Mrs. Fritz, I just wanted to say congrats for finishing your book etc.*Justine. p.s. if you ever need your sewing machine back you can tell me.

Chelsea won't sign the release forms. Just kidding! I will try and post more photos of Chelsea in the future.

Why are there more photos of your daughter Megan than of Chelsea?!

Will "Waiting To Disappear" become a movie? My literary agent is working with a Hollywood agent on selling the film rights to my book. It doesn't happen too often, so let's keep our fingers crossed. It would be fun to be extras in the movie. What scene would you like to be in?

Thanks Sarah and Liz. I'm happy you enjoyed "Waiting To Disappear." I'll tell Chelsea hi. One question I forgot to answer:what inspired me to write the book. I began with an image of a young girl, Buddy, standing alone and watching as her mother leaves home. What would happen to her? What would she do to bring her mother home? I had to write the book to answer my own questions.

Hey! Thanks for your speedy replies to our many questions! WE'd love a continuation of "Waiting to Disappear" from where the book ended! We are eagerly awaiting the release of your 2nd book! Very Cool? What's the premise, if we may ask? Is there any possibility of a movie based on the book? We think it would be a great one! Well- thanks again! ~Sarah Schwartz and Liz Tyner PS: We cruised through the book over the break and really enjoyed it! Way to go Mrs. Fritz! Say "Hi" to Chelsea for us!

Answers to the questions about whether there will be a sequel and if there is another book coming: Several people have told me they would like to read a sequel to "Waiting To Disappear." If there were a sequel, would you like to see it continue from where the book left off, or begin a few years later? I might write another book about Buddy and her family and friends in the future, but I am currently revising a novel titled "Praying at the Sweetwater Motel," which will be published by Hyperion Books for Children fall 2003.

I loved your first book! Will there ever be a second one? Possibly a continuation of the first one?

What inspired you to write this book?

In reply to the question of how long it took me to write "Waiting To Disappear": I worked on it off and on for many years because I was working on other projects at the same time. I often set aside a work-in-progress for weeks or even months and go back to it with a clearer idea of where I want the story to go. If I added up all the hours I worked on this book, they might add up to a year of my life. It was worth my time; I loved Buddy and her family and friends.

How long did the book take you to write?

Thanks for writing, Rosemary. Your kind words mean a lot to me. April

Very touching book, very well written. I was moved from smiles to tears and back again. Thank you. Rosemary
